Day 2: settling in

St. Giles Hotel - Bedford Avenue

When the Aer Lingus attendant brought me to meet my driver, there must have been 40 drivers with signs of last names. He found mine, a very nice affable man. When we got to the car, he opened the left back door for me. I got in and moved to the right side. Then I realized the steering wheel was on the right, etc. etc. He also explained that there are taxis and then there are private hires, which this was.

A small part of the trip was on a highway but most of it was city streets passing dozens of very quaint old apartment buildings, wrought iron fences, etc. It was very quaint to see all this.

My hotel is St. Giles Hotel London. They hooked me up to the internet at $15 a day. Breakfast is also $15 a day - a huge spread of everything one would want. Luckily, there's a restaurant in the hotel which I will experience for dinner tonight.

I spent most of the day just trying to keep awake and then crash at a normal bedtime hour.

Fading fast from jet lag...
