Bad, bad man! Here I was hopin' that Rolando or Marcelo might fill his shoes and you have to go and spoil it by remindin' me of the real thing! Maybe an illusion shattered every day makes the doctor go away. (Good string playing from the Met folks, too, and I can just see Bidu do that "Ah!") David P.S. And nice job as The Leader.

In case anyone was mystified by the above P.S., Mr. Collup is the excellent baritone who sings the role of The Leader in Kurt Weill's Down in the Valley on the Capriccio label. We can't handle too many mysteries at a time, though I'm not sure I want to be told who Cookie and Shadow are. (I THINK I may have figured it out. :-) ) David

Thank you, Donald, for this rare treat.  His singing is stunning, in key, fearless, and leaves one weak in the knees for all the right reasons.  Bravo, Pippo!

Thanks for that...beautiful. My favorites for that aria are, in addition to G di S, Bjoerling and Bergonzi. But the most ravishing performance of the duet "O Mimi piu non torni" is the Warren/Pippo from the early 50's where Giuseppe takes the a-flat sotto voce....sublime... Thanks again. Robin
